About Alcohol

Millions of people worldwide are dependent on alcohol.  The degree of dependence varies, but all either feel that they have to drink or have a physical need to do so.  It is estimated that 65% to 70% of Americans use alcohol, and that more than 10 million are alcohol dependent.  Additionally, 10 million more Americans are subject to the negative consequences of alcohol abuse, including automobile accidents, arrests, violence, occupational injuries and negative effects on job performances.  Almost one half of all fatal motor vehicle accidents are alcohol related, and as many as 37% of all emergency department trauma admissions involve alcohol use.
